Detente was a Thrash band from L.A. that featured vocalist Dawn Crosby (she passed away in 1996, was also in Fear of God) and Ross Robinson of whom you may know for having produced Machine Head and Sepultura plus others.
This LP had plenty of the guitar "galloping" and solo acrobatics which were prevalent in bands such as Vio-lence but had awesome similarities to a lot of German speed metal such as Iron Angel and Deathrow.
Dawn Crosby's vocals were quite distinct and sort of reminded me of Schmier from Destruction except she couldn't hit the high notes (or wouldn't), the soloing was very cool and it sort of goes into that Andy Laroque (from King Diamond) style. Overall killer shit and, sadly, once again overlooked. Theme wise, the topics were a bit political and I'd dare say very Punk in the way the lyrics were written.
The opening track, "Losers" really isn't anything to keel over and it may have been a mistake to place it in the album since past that the rest of the LP is so awesome.
Apparently Dawn was not the easiest to deal with and her not getting along with the other band members led the band to break up not too long after Metal Blade Records released the LP in 1986.
