SATAN is One-man grind core band from Terre Haute, and from what I gather he does live shows with just a drum machine by his side. I give the guy a thumb up for having the balls and going out and trying something he likes regardless of the response. Now for me I really have to be in a good mood to listen to this kind of stuff it’s not my music of choice but a good taste of something different once in a while. So with that said Dr.Satan isn’t for everyone but for the ones who enjoy one man Grind/Death projects, you will love this effort. Adam playing isn’t have bad he has a pretty decent slow doom/ death/grind sound to his playing style. I liked the fact the pace was well kept and was interesting to say the least. He could work a bit on the vocals to gain a little more fans but I guess this type of music isn’t about that as much as others. All of the tracks were similar sound but a few I got into which if he took note I might check out his next effort. I liked “The Gates Of Hell†the most nice slow paced Doom/Death. Overall a gutsy performance but not that great of one better next time dude, keep grinding at it and you might find something better to offer. 4/10 -Esoteric Ed This album mixes Sludgy guitar riffs with a blowtourch sounding bass! This is a one member Death/Grind band from TERRE HAUTE, which i think we all know doesn't have much of a "extreme metal" scene. So this makes this amazing one man band stick out from the crowd. It is also amazing that all 13 track have their own different sound. Most bands from the grindcore scene, the songs kinda sound the same. Dr. Satan pulls of the great Mortician, sound but almost better! I think that anyone that is a fan of bands like Burn Victim and Mortician, would love this album, And i am sure that this is not the last that we have heard from this one man band. All in all this album finds it's self in my cd player in my car all of the time. There are alot of catchy guitar riffs and some amazing drum programming! I personally give this album 2 thumbs up an must for the Death/Grind fan!! -Jerry Stench |
