necrometal - Repugnant Stench - Gutted And Fucked Demo

Repugnant Stench, is a one man band Formed by Jerry VanHorn, from the split I reviewed earlier that was an early release by Jerry’s new project so I was interested to hear how the music has evolved over sometime.

From the start I can hear a huge improvement in the sound quality and recording levels nice job on that man. Repugnant Stench has a bit of a unique sound because it’s a mix of slower played Grind with a Death Metal twist to it. One track “Purulence” has a more BM feel to it due to his past influences in bands of that type of genre. The tracks “Organ Removal” & “Gutted Pig” represent the best this project has to offer on this demo, I like the flow of the songs more. Some work could be done in the vocal department as far as keeping in time with the mix, which is a bit harder to do when playing with a drum machine so can’t grill him to much there. For a home recording this is pretty good stuff goes to show a little homework on how to record can make you sound a hell of a lot better than most bands trying to do the same stuff as RS.

Overall Jerry is making some good steps from the earlier releases and those steps are all in the right direction to take the band to better places. I hope with time he gets some members and he could focus more on one thing instead of doing it all himself. I think if RS got a drummer first it would help out a ton. From all the grind stuff that is coming out these days I would put RS right in the middle of pack a few years behind the belt and a huge drive which Jerry seems to have for music his project should do quite well. One thing is for sure from the start Grind bands have the image and artwork sales down to a science the sicker the better and I like that attitude, keep it up man nice start.
